Lake Ayan ( Russian Озеро Аян ) is a lake on Ayan in the Putorana Mountains , the northwestern part of the Central Siberian Mountains in the Krasnoyarsk Region , Siberia , Russia ( Asia ).

Geographical location

Lake Ajan is located on average about 275 km north of the Arctic Circle in the northern part of the Putorana Mountains, where it extends in a south-southeast-north-northwest direction as the lake of origin of the Ajan river , the western headwaters of the Cheta . While it is fed by many mountain streams, the Ajan is its only drain. The lake is about 465  m above sea level. The mountains around the lake, with Kamen to the east of the south-southeastern part of the lake , the highest mountain in the Putorana Mountains, are a maximum of 1701  m high. There are no settlements either by the lake or in its vicinity.

Flora and fauna

Boreal coniferous forests (taiga) thrive on the shores of Lake Ajan ; the high elevations of the mountains surrounding the lake are determined by the tundra with its mosses and lichens . For example, perch fish , pike and salmon fish live in the fish-rich lake .
