Akne Kid Joe is a German-speaking punk band from Nuremberg .

Band history

The band members met in the bar Arsch & Friedrich in Nuremberg. After being friends for a while, they formed Acne Kid Joe relatively spontaneously. During a rehearsal, they recorded the first song they shared, Alles gut, danke via IPhone and also published a video on YouTube . The band's name came from an inside play on words with the band name Ugly Kid Joe .

On March 7th, 2017 they released their first EP haste nicht Seen! in self-distribution. A month later they played their first live gig. Alex, the singer of the Saarland punk band Pascow , discovered the EP on the Internet and put the band on the band label Kidnap Music , where a second edition of the EP was released. Then Akne Kid Joe played in the opening act for Pascow.

In 2018 the first album Karate Kid Joe followed via Kidnap Music. A lot of anger is expressed in the songs of the band. Furthermore, irony, sarcasm and humor are used as motifs. Markus Söder and the poetry slammer Julia Engelmann were criticized on the album .

In preparation for the release of the second album, a video was released for the song Sarah (woman, also in a band) with guest singing by Alex Pascow, which took up the topic of women in subcultures and made the band better known in the punk scene as well as sparking debates on the topic.

On April 3, 2020, their second album, The Big Palm Oil Lie, was released . The subsequent tour had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany . The album reached number 29 in the German album charts.
