Akoš Paulinyi

Akoš Paulinyi (born February 7, 1929 in Budapest ) is a technical , economic and social historian .

academic career

Paulinyi studied history and archivistics and graduated in 1953 with the state examination. After receiving his doctorate in 1959 and his habilitation in 1964, he was assistant and lecturer for general history of modern times at the Comenius University in Bratislava until 1969 . After the suppression of the Prague Spring , he had to leave the country in 1969 and moved to Germany, where he was a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 1969/70 . From 1970 to 1978 he was professor of economic history at the Philipps University of Marburg before he was appointed professor of technical history and economic history at the Technical University of Darmstadt . After his retirement in the late 1990s, he returned to the University of Miskolc in Hungary as an exchange lecturer .

Paulinyi's research focuses on the history of mining and smelting , the social history of miners and the spread of technical innovations during industrialization . In addition, he dealt with the Slovak and Hungarian economic history.
