Aksel Smith

Aksel Smith (* 1880 in Kristiansand ; † January 18, 1919 in Drøbak ) was a Norwegian dentist , author , magazine publisher and preacher with the Smith Venner (Movement of Smith Friends) and one of the pioneers and co-founders of the Brunstad Christian Church , which in Germany is known as The Christian Congregation .

Life

Aksel Smith was the brother of the founder of the Brunstad Christian Church , Johan Oscar Smith , and at the same time co-initiator of the so-called Norwegian movement.

Smith was known to be very generous and give away more than he earned. He was a driving force behind the publication of its own monthly community gazette , which was realized in 1912 with the Skjulte Skatter (German title: Hidden Treasures ). As a dentist, he had some private means at his disposal to publish the magazine and also to found the magazine publisher Skjulte skatters forlag of the same name . Until his death he was an active editor and writer of the magazine. Since then, the magazine has grown into the community's most important publication and is still published in 28 languages ​​in many countries around the world. Furthermore, he was the author of various writings, mostly of a religious nature, and several hymns and a hymn book. Some of his works were published in book form after his death.
