Jürgen Cierniak

Jürgen Cierniak (born April 12, 1956 in Moers ) is a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

Life

After the second state examination in April 1985, he was initially employed as a trial reporter at the Mainz public prosecutor's office. In the following years he worked at the Mainz Regional Court , the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Justice and the Alzey and Worms district courts . In March 1990 he was appointed judge at the Worms District Court.

Just one month later he was seconded to the Ministry of Justice of Rhineland-Palatinate, where he worked as a consultant in various areas. In May 1991 he was promoted to government director . From January 1998 to December 2000 he was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant . During this time he was raised to the rank of Ministerial Councilor. In January 2001 he was appointed to the Palatinate Higher Regional Court in Zweibrücken , where he was a member of the 3rd civil senate and was a consultant in the administrative department.

In 2003 he was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice at the suggestion of the then Justice Minister Herbert Mertin . Here he was first the IX. Civil Senate assigned. On April 1, 2008 he moved to the 2nd criminal senate . Since April 1, 2010 he was a member of the 4th Criminal Senate . In addition, he was temporarily the III. Civil senate assigned for proceedings that concern claims for compensation due to lengthy court proceedings and criminal investigation proceedings ( Section 201 GVG).

Cierniak retired on July 7, 2020.
