Action (artist group)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The artist group Aktion was formed in Dresden in March 1930 . It emerged from a relaxed community that had previously exhibited in the Galerie Neue Kunst Fides in September 1927 .

history

The artist group Aktion came up to “counter art reactionary endeavors”. The group had an oppositional character and can be attributed to the Dresden secession movements . The group wanted to actively intervene in the art politics of the time. The name Aktion stood for active action and at the same time was based on the expressionist , literary and political magazine Die Aktion by Franz Pfemfert .
