The active Bus Flensburg GmbH (formerly Stadtwerke Flensburg GmbH / Bus ) is a transport company and operator of the local public transport in the city of Flensburg . The company was founded in 1999 as a subsidiary of the former bus division of the Flensburger Stadtwerke. The active Bus Flensburg GmbH operates eleven bus routes in the city.
history
The city of Flensburg has operated its own tram with four lines since 1881 . During the Second World War , line 2 was switched to trolleybus operation in 1943 . Since 1950, a diesel bus drove regularly from the central bus station to Solitüde for the first time . In 1957, line 3 and trolleybus line 2 were converted to diesel bus operation. The remaining tram line 1 was discontinued in the summer of 1973 and replaced by motor buses.
In 1971 a transport alliance was concluded with AFAG and in 1976 the route plan was improved. In the late 1980s a line has been in the in the Danish border preferred Niehuus set (line 8).
In 1999 the bus division of Stadtwerke was spun off into the subsidiary Aktiv Bus Flensburg GmbH. After the EU regulation 1370/2007 relating to competition in local public transport came into force in 2007 , the concessions for lines 10, 11, 12, 14 and 15 were awarded in 2015 by a decision of the city council in the form of a direct award to Aktiv Bus . AFAG then operated the lines until 2017 on behalf of Aktiv Bus . In a tender for subcontracting services on January 1, 2018, AFAG was subject to the companies Förde Bus GmbH & Co KG and Autokraft GmbH.
Since 2018, Aktiv Bus itself has provided a good 50% of the line service on the city bus routes (1–14), while Förde Bus and Autokraft operate the rest of the service as subcontractors on behalf of Aktiv Bus .

Others
Aktiv Bus initiated the Internet platform Busradar Flensburg in 2013 , which enables passengers to follow the buses in real time on the Internet. The system is GPS-supported and initially only showed the Aktiv Bus lines . Meanwhile, DB Autokraft and Förde Bus as well as some overland routes can be followed.
Color of the vehicles
The vehicles were painted in beige or yellow tones until 1973. When the tram line was closed, the buses were painted orange-red / white with white surfaces for advertising. Since the late 1980s, the vehicles have been delivered in white and have advertising stuck on them. A design competition was held for the takeover of the new hybrid buses from Volvo, in which the citizens of the city took part. The winner was a caterpillar design. The condition was a connection to the Climate Pact concept.
