al-Jassas
Abū Bakr Ahmad ibn ʿAlī al-Jassās ( Arabic ابو بكر أحمد بن علي الجصاص, DMG Abū Bakr Aḥmad ibn ʿAlī al-Ǧaṣṣāṣ b. 917, d. 981 in Nischapur ) was a Hanafi scholar in the 10th century .
Hardly any details are known about his living conditions. According to al-Chatib al-Baghdadi , he died in Baghdad in 331 AH (942 AD) . He is known as the commentator on an important work in adab al-qadi literature , which deals with rules of conduct for the judge ( qādī ). He commented on the work Kitāb sharḥ Adab al-qāḍī lil-Khaṣṣāf by al-Chassāf .
His Aḥkām al-Qur'ān is considered to be an important work of Koran exegesis .
