al-Quwa al-Jawiya FC ( Arabic القوة الجوية, DMG al-Qūwa al-Ǧauwīya ) is an Iraqi football club from Baghdad . "Al-Quwa al-Jawiya" is Arabic for "air force".

history

The club was founded on July 4, 1931 under the name Gipsy Moth , making it the oldest club in the country. In 1963, the Baghdad Super League and the Iraqi Cup won their first titles. 1974 al-Quwa became national champion for the first time. Altogether they won the championship five times, most recently in 2005, and seven times in the cup competition, most recently in 1997. The club has participated in four AFC Champions League , one in the Asian Club Championship, one in the AFC Cup Winners Cup and six in the AFC Cup . The best result was winning the AFC Cup twice. In 2016 , the club beat Indian representatives Bengaluru FC 1-0 in the final .

After twelve long years, 2017 was finally able to celebrate the next championship title and the club won the AFC Cup again . In the final they defeated FC Istiklol from Tajikistan 1-0.
