Al Gafa
Alexander "Al" Gafa (born April 9, 1941 in New York City ) is an American jazz guitarist .
Al Gafa worked as a studio musician in New York City from 1964 to 1969, where he also played with Kai Winding and Sam Donahue . From 1969 to 1970 he was in the accompanying orchestra of Sammy Davis junior and 1970/71 musical director of the accompanying band of Carmen McRae .
He also played with and recorded with Dizzy Gillespie (1971). Under his own name he played an album for Pablo Records ( Leblon Beach , 1976); also with Susannah McCorkle , Carmen McRae, Paul Simon and Duke Pearson . Tom Lord recorded 34 recording sessions from 1934 to 2011 (acoustic and electric guitar, banjo).
