Data on the structure

The Alamo Lake is a reservoir in Mohave County and La Paz County in the US state of Arizona . The dam was built in 1968 and dams the Bill Williams River .

The lake is located in the Alamo Lake State Park and offers numerous opportunities for recreation and excursions, but is more of an insider tip due to its remote location. The park and lake can only be accessed via gravel roads from either US Highway 60 or US Highway 93 .

Perch are the main fish caught here , and in spring the rains in the otherwise dry landscape around the lake - which is dominated by cacti - cause explosive flower growth. The animal world is also represented here with numerous - sometimes rare - species such as eagles, water birds, foxes, coyotes and mules.

Heavy rains often lead to a rapid rise in the water level; once an increase of over three meters was observed in one night.
