Alan A'Court (born September 30, 1934 in Rainhill , Metropolitan Borough of St Helens , England , † December 14, 2009 in Nantwich ) was an English football player and coach .
Between 1957 and 1958 he played five international matches for the English national football team and scored one goal. He also played 382 games for Liverpool in over ten years , scoring 63 goals.
career
Alan A'Court was signed in September 1952 by the amateur club Prescot Cables for Liverpool FC, having previously turned down offers from Everton FC and Bolton Wanderers . Just six months later he made his debut against Middlesbrough FC in the first team. In the following season he completed sixteen games for Liverpool, but rose with his club in the second-class Second Division .
In Liverpool he became a regular player and came to his five internationals with the English national team . A'Court made his debut in November 1957 against Northern Ireland and was then even appointed to the English squad for the 1958 World Cup in Sweden - although he was only active in the second division .
A'Court then had enough offers for first-class clubs, but his loyalty to Liverpool was ultimately rewarded by his resurgence in 1962, for which he was largely responsible as a regular. In the first season after the first division return he was used in 23 games, but the increased incidence of injuries ensured that he was given to neighboring Tranmere Rovers for £ 4,500 in 1964 .
Then A'Court initially looked after Norwich City as a player-coach and then clubs in Zambia and New Zealand .
He later opened a tobacco and magazine store near Birkenhead and Bebington .
