Walter Abbott (born December 7, 1877 in Birmingham ; † February 1, 1941 ibid) was an English football player who played for Small Heath , Everton and Burnley . For Small Heath, he scored 66 goals in 85 games in all competitions as a half-forward . In the 1898/99 season he scored 42 goals in 34 league games and was thus the top scorer in the Second Division.
After moving to Everton, he was mostly used as a left wing runner . With Everton he was runner- up in the 1901/02 and 1904/05 season, won the FA Cup in 1906 and reached the FA Cup final in 1907, which Everton lost 2-1 to Sheffield Wednesday .
During his time at Everton, he played his only international match for the English national football team on March 3, 1902 in a goalless draw at Racecourse Ground in Wrexham against Wales .
