Alan Beith
Alan James Beith, Baron Beith , PC (born April 20, 1943 in Cheshire ) is a British politician of the Liberal Party and now the Liberal Democrats .
He was a Member of the House of Commons for the constituency of Berwick-upon-Tweed from 1973 to 2015 and was promoted to Knight Bachelor in 2008 . After leaving the House of Commons in 2015 , he was promoted to Life Peer on October 19, 2015 as Baron Beith , of Berwick-upon-Tweed in the County of Northumberland, and was promoted to the House of Lords .
In his first marriage he was married to Barbara Ward († 1998) since 1965. In 2001 he married Diana Maddock, Baroness Maddock's second marriage . He has no children.
