Selection process
As in the previous year, some players had to be replaced due to injuries or other reasons. These were the following:
- Greg Inglis , who was replaced by Beau Champion .
- Sam Thaiday , who was replaced by Cory Paterson . Since Paterson was nominated for the Indigenous All Stars anyway, the vacated space was filled with Joel Moon .
- Gareth Ellis , who was replaced by Liam Fulton .
- Preston Campbell , who was replaced by Matt Bowen . As in the previous year, he was originally supposed to be captain of the Indigenous All Stars, which was then taken over by Johnathan Thurston . Since Matt Bowen was nominated for the Indigenous All Stars anyway, the vacant space was filled with Anthony Mitchell .
