The NRL All-Stars Game has been an All-Star Game that has been played since 2010 , in which the teams of the Indigenous All Stars and the NRL All Stars compete against each other. The game has always taken place at Skilled Park in Gold Coast , apart from the 2013 All-Stars Game, which took place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane . The Man of the Match receives the Preston Campbell Medal, named after the rugby league player Preston Campbell , who played for the Gold Coast Titans in the first season and won the NRL with the Penrith Panthers in 2003 . The winner of the game will receive the Arthur Beetson Trophy named after Arthur Beetson , arguably the most famous rugby league player with Aboriginal roots. In 2014 there was no All-Stars Game because of the Rugby League World Cup , which took place in England towards the end of 2013 .
regulate
The rules of the All-Stars Game differ in a few points from the normal NRL rules. The main differences are:
- Unlike normal NRL games, an All-Stars Game is played in 4 × 20 minutes rather than 2 × 40 minutes. This is because the game takes place in early February, in the middle of midsummer.
- There is no limit to how often it can be changed.
- After an attempt in the All-Stars Game, the team has the choice of whether they want to kick a raise, or whether they try again to try. The attempt from this so-called “Double Try Attempt” then counts four points again, with the difference that there is no increase. This rule also has the following sub-rules:
- The Double Try Attempt is started from the middle of the 20-meter line.
- The goalkeeper of the defending team must leave the field of play during the double try attempt, which means that the defending team is outnumbered.
- The attacking team is not allowed to kick the ball.
- If the defending team succeeds in taking possession of the ball, the double try attempt is over. As a result, the defending team cannot score points from a failed double try attempt by the attacking team.
- If a penalty is imposed on the defending team, this is automatically counted as a penalty attempt, so the attacking team automatically receives four points.
