He has played for the New Zealand national team since 2007 , with whom he won the Four Nations in 2010 and 2014 .

Start of career

Kenny-Dowall was born in Brisbane and his family moved to Auckland when he was three years old. There he played rugby for the East Coast Bays Barracudas, a club from north Auckland. His family eventually moved one more time, this time to Ngāruawāhia , where he attended Ngaruawahia High School and played rugby for the Ngaruawahia Panthers. He was accepted into the junior team of the New Zealand Warriors , but there was no place in the men's team.

In 2006 his family moved to Sydney, where he received a spot on the Sydney Roosters roster . In the same year he also made his debut for the Junior Kiwis, the New Zealand U-20 national team.

Professional career

In 2007, Kenny-Dowall made his debut for the Roosters in Round 1 against the South Sydney Rabbitohs . In round 4 he put his first try against the Brisbane Broncos and in round 13 he put a hat trick against the North Queensland Cowboys . He finished the season with 8 attempts in 14 games. After the end of the season he had his first two games for New Zealand , a game against a Northern Union selection and a game against France . Both games were part of a tour to celebrate 100 years of rugby league in New Zealand.

In 2008 he put 15 attempts in 19 games for the Roosters. He was not part of New Zealand's roster for the Rugby League World Cup , instead he played in the opening game between the New Zealand Māori and the Indigenous All Stars for the Māori and put in the game a try.

In 2009 he made 14 attempts in 24 games and "won" the wooden spoon with the Roosters .

In 2010 he put 21 attempts in 28 games, making him the top try scorer of the season together with Akuila Uate from the Newcastle Knights . In round 20 against the Brisbane Broncos , he made four attempts, which no Rooster had done in 35 years. In the playoffs he put in the qualifying playoff against the Wests Tigers in extra time an attempt by which the Roosters won the game 19:15. In the further course, the Roosters made it to the NRL Grand Final, in which they lost 32: 8 to the St. George Illawarra Dragons . After the end of the season he took part in the Four Nations with New Zealand . He made three attempts, including one in the 16:12 final win over Australia .

In 2011 he took part as a substitute for the NRL All Stars in the NRL All-Stars Game , which the NRL All Stars won 28:12 and in which he put a try. On March 10, 2011, he signed a four-year contract with the Roosters for $ 1.4 million. Later in the season he took part with New Zealand in the traditional ANZAC Test against Australia and completed his 100th NRL game against the South Sydney Rabbitohs in round 19 . In total, he put 9 attempts in 20 games.

In 2012 he made 8 attempts in 17 games for the Roosters and took part in the ANZAC test again with New Zealand.

In 2013 he took part in the ANZAC test for the third time in a row and played again for the NRL All Stars in the NRL All-Star Game. At the end of the game, he announced that he had played through the entire game despite breaking his jaw and losing a tooth five minutes into the game.

In the opening game of the 2014 season against the Rabbitohs, Kenny-Dowall completed his 150th NRL game. During the entire season he put 11 attempts in 27 games for the Roosters, who had to admit defeat to the Rabbitohs in the semifinals. After the end of the season he took part in the Four Nations with New Zealand. He tried against Samoa and played in all games, including the final, which New Zealand won 22:18 against Australia.
