Alan Hunter (athlete)
Alan Hunter ( Frank Alan Ritchie Hunter; born November 16, 1913 in Edinburgh , † April 25, 2002 in Perth , Australia ) was a British hurdler and sprinter .
At the British Empire Games in 1934 he won gold over 440 yard hurdles, bronze with the Scottish 4 x 440 yard relay and finished sixth over 440 yards.
In 1935 he became English champion over the 440 yard hurdles.
At the beginning of World War II , he joined the Indian Army . After the war he served in the British Army until 1955 , most recently with the rank of lieutenant colonel . Before and after he worked in the insurance industry. He was awarded the OBE .
