Alan Ibrahimagic

Alan Ibrahimagic (born March 5, 1978 in Belgrade ) is an Australian - Bosnian basketball coach .

career

Ibrahimagic grew up in Yugoslavia and came to Berlin when he was 14 . He played basketball in the youth department of VfB Hermsdorf and later in the club's men's team in the 2nd regional league. Between 1996 and 1998 he was part of the second division squad of TuS Lichterfelde .

Ibrahimagic lived in Australia from 1998 to 2001 and took Australian citizenship. In 2001 he returned to Berlin, until 2003 he played for the Hermsdorf team.

Ibrahimagic worked as a youth trainer at IBBA Berlin (until 2009). From 2007 to 2009 he was also the assistant coach of the German U20 national team. At the same time he looked after the men's team at VfB Hermsdorf and led them to promotion to the 1st regional league in 2009. In 2010 he led the U16 team from Alba Berlin to the runner-up in the youth basketball league .

In the 2011/12 season he worked as assistant coach to Gordon Herbert for Alba's Bundesliga men, and in the 2012/13 season he also worked as a " co-trainer " for the Berlin Bundesliga rivals Neckar Riesen Ludwigsburg .

In the summer of 2013 Ibrahimagic took over the post of full-time national coach of the German U16 national team. In addition, in the summer of 2017, he was in charge of the German U19 team at the World Cup in Egypt and led the team to fifth place. In November 2017, he also became assistant to national coach Henrik Rödl in the German men's national team . At the end of March 2018, Ibrahimagic was also given the task of looking after the U20 national team in the run-up to and during the European Championships in Chemnitz in July 2018 .

In April 2018 he led the German U18 national team to win the Albert Schweitzer tournament . In July of the same year, the German U20s won the bronze medal at the home championships in Chemnitz under his leadership. Ibrahimagic was thus responsible for achieving the "greatest success for a male junior national team in 35 years". In July 2019, the German U20 national team he was in charge of finished third in the European Championship.
