Al Purvis
Allan Ruggles "Al" Purvis (born January 9, 1929 in Trochu , Alberta , † August 13, 2009 in Brentwood Bay , British Columbia ) was a Canadian ice hockey player . At the 1952 Winter Olympics , he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.
Career
Allan Purvis began his career as a hockey player with the Calgary Buffaloes junior team. He then moved to the senior sector for the Edmonton Mercurys . With the team he represented Canada at the 1950 World Cup and the 1952 Winter Olympics.
International
For Canada Purvis took part in the Olympic Winter Games in Oslo in 1952 , where he won the gold medal with his team. He scored two goals in eight games. He and his team had previously won the gold medal at the 1950 World Cup .
