Alba Baptista (born July 10, 1997 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese actress .

Life

Alba Baptista first appeared in short films such as Amanhã é for Novo Dia by Raquel Pinheiro (2012) and Miami by Simão Cayatte (2014). For her portrayal of Raquel in Miami she was honored as best actress at the Festival Ibérico de Ciné . This was followed by a number of series roles in Portuguese series such as Jardins Proibidos (2014/15), A Impostora (2016/17) and Filha da Lei , Madre Paula , A Criação (2017) and Jogo Duplo (2017/18).

She had film roles in Caminhos Magnétykos (2018) by Edgar Pêra and Patrick (2019) by Gonçalo Waddington, which premiered at the Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián . In 2018, she played the role of Carolina Paixão in Justin Amorim's drama Leviano . She also stood in front of the camera for the filming of the film Fatima by Marco Pontecorvo , alongside Harvey Keitel and Sônia Braga .

In 2019 she was awarded the Prémios Nico by the Academia Portuguesa de Cinema . In addition, she was nominated for the Audience Award at the Globo de Ouro in 2019 .

In the Netflix series Warrior Nun (2020) based on the comic Warrior Nun Areala by Ben Dunn , she took on the title role Ava Silva.
