The La Cuesta district is located in the Otuzco Province in the La Libertad region in western Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1863. It has an area of ​​41.4 km². The 2017 census counted 659 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 747, in 2007 it was 708. The district administration is located in the 1874  m high village of La Cuesta with 77 inhabitants (as of 2017). La Cuesta is located 15 km west of the provincial capital Otuzco .

Geographical location

The La Cuesta district is located in the west of the Otuzco province. The Río La Cuesta, a tributary of the Río Moche , crosses the district in a south-westerly direction.

The La Cuesta district is bordered to the south by the district Poroto , the west by the district Simbal , on the north by the districts Paranday and Sinsicap and the east by the district Agallpampa .
