The Agallpampa district is located in the Otuzco Province in the La Libertad region in western Peru . The district was founded on September 10, 1941. It has an area of ​​258.56 km². The 2017 census counted 9252 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 9656, in 2007 it was 9802. The administrative seat of the district is the 3117  m high village of Agallpampa with 506 inhabitants (as of 2017). Agallpampa is 9 km south of the provincial capital Otuzco .

Geographical location

The Agallpampa district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the central south of the Otuzco province. The Río Moche crosses the district in a north-westerly direction and then turns south-west along the northern district boundary.

The Agallpampa district borders in the southwest to the districts mongering and Salpo , the west by the district Otuzco , in the northeast on the district Usquil , in the southeast of the district Quiruvilca ( province of Santiago de Chuco ) and in the central south by the district Julcan ( province Julcan ).
