Albert Bettannier

Nicolas Albert Bettannier (born August 12, 1851 in Metz , † November 17, 1932 in Paris ) was a French painter . He was best known for his pictures depicting the loss of Alsace during the Third French Republic .

Life

Albert Bettannier grew up in Metz. He studied painting with Henri Lehman , Diogène Maillart and Isidore Pils . In 1908 he received the rank of Chevalier in the Legion of Honor.

He often exhibited with fellow artists in Paris. Postcards were printed from his works , as these were intended to strengthen the national feeling.
