Albert Bolliger

Albert Bolliger (* 1937 ) is a Swiss organist .

biography

Albert Bolliger completed his music studies at the Zurich Conservatory , where he graduated with a concert diploma from Hans Vollenweider . From 1959 to 1961 he studied organ and Andrée Honegger-Vaurabourg counterpoint in Paris with André Marchal . Further studies took place with Jean Langlais and Georges Robert . He completed studies in musicology , Russian studies and linguistics at the University of Zurich .

Since 1965 Bolliger pursued a concert activity that took him to most European countries, the Soviet Union , the USA , Japan , Australia , South Africa , New Zealand , Brazil , Argentina , Israel , Egypt , the Philippines , the People's Republic of China , Korea, India , Singapore , Mexico and San Salvador led.

In 1971 he was visiting professor at Roosevelt University in Chicago, 1972 at the Conservatorio Nacional de la Ciudad de México, 1987 Artist in Residence at the Theological College in Taipei (Taiwan).

In 1979 his recording with organ works by Johann Pachelbel was released on three LPs by Teldec in “Das Alte Werk”. This was followed by recordings of the oldest playable organ in the world ( organ of the Basilique de Valère ) and the bamboo organ from Las Piñas (Philippines) on the Swiss label Ex Libris.

In 1990 he founded Sinus-Verlag AG. So far 40 CDs with own recordings of over 80 historical organs have been published there. These recordings document instruments in Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Spain and Portugal. Bolliger's organ recordings have received numerous awards, including the German Record Critics' Prize five times .

In addition, he published a sheet music series with organ works by contemporary Swiss composers. Since 2005, Bolliger has also been involved with Sinus-Verlag as an editor of texts from world literature. In these productions, called BOOK AND AUDIO BOOK, presented by the best German-speaking speakers, the spoken text is also printed and accompanied by a detailed commentary and an essay by a recognized specialist. So far, works by Velez de Guevara, Alarcón, Bunin, Leskow, Dostojewskij, Nietzsche, Mörike, Ebner-Eschenbach, Pitaval-Schiller, Shakespeare, Joyce and CF Meyer have appeared.

As a translator, Bolliger has translated Dostoyevsky's Grand Inquisitor from Russian and Alarcón's tricorn from Spanish, as well as a number of Shakespeare sonnets.
