Albert Hoyer

Albert Hoyer (date of birth unknown; † 1386 in Hamburg ) was a German merchant , councilor and chamberlain .

Albert Hoyer belonged to an important and respected councilor family originally from Lüneburg. He was married to Womele (Windelmut) Tolner, with whom he had the children Abele, Heyneke, Lussche, Tybbeke and Albert according to a document from 1387. Hein Hoyer is not mentioned , but he was probably also one of Albert Hoyer's sons.

In the 1370s, Hoyer Tuch traded in Bruges , including Vicko von Geldersen . In 1374 or 1377 he was elected councilor. He worked as bailiff in 1380, wine lord in 1382, customs officer in 1384 and chamberlain in 1386. Between 1381 and 1384 he negotiated with Lüneburg , Stade , the Dithmarschen territory , the Archbishop of Bremen , the Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg and the Count of Holstein.

Together with his cousin Johannes Hoyer and funds from the Hamburg council, he acquired the island of Billwerder from Adolf VII in 1385. The pledge sum was 2,400 Lübische Marks .
