Ignaz Hub

Ignaz Hub (born February 1, 1810 in Würzburg ; † March 27, 1880 there ; pseudonym Frank von Steinach ) was a German poet , editor and publisher .

Life

Hub was the son of a master tailor and clothes dealer. He first studied philosophy and literary history from 1829 at the University of Würzburg , then from 1833 at the University of Heidelberg . Heidelberg's done promotion for Dr. phil. Already active as a poet during his studies, he devoted himself more intensively to poetry and editing after completing his studies. He worked with August Schnezler and Ferdinand Freiligrath , among others .

From 1834 to 1839 he lived on the Rhine , then traveled for a year through northern Germany. From 1840 he lived in Mainz and Frankfurt am Main before settling in Karlsruhe in 1844 . In 1849 he traveled through Switzerland for several months before he lived in Munich from 1849 to 1853 . In 1853 he returned to Würzburg and earned his living from there by traveling to distribute his own books. In the last years of his life he worked primarily as an editor, supported by a pension from the German Schiller Foundation.
