Albert Jan Kluyver
Albert Jan Kluyver (born June 3, 1888 in Breda , † May 14, 1956 ) was a Dutch microbiologist and biochemist .
Kluyver was from 1922 to 1956 Professor of General and Applied Microbiology at the Technical University of Delft . He belonged to the Delft School of Microbiology.
In 1952 he received the Leeuwenhoek Medal of the Royal Society , in 1953 he was awarded the Copley Medal .
In 1950 Kluyver was elected to the National Academy of Sciences , 1953 to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
The Kluyver effect was named after him.
