Albert Pürsten

Albert Pürsten (born February 20, 1923 in Meuselwitz ; † June 10, 1980 in Minden ) was a German politician and member of the state parliament ( CDU ).

Life

After attending elementary school and high school , he passed the Abitur examination in 1941 . After serving as an officer in the Air Force and returning from captivity, Pürsten studied at the Wuppertal Pedagogical Academy from 1947 . In 1949 he finished his studies with the examination for teaching at elementary schools. After brief socio-educational activity, he was a teacher at the elementary and secondary school in Espelkamp from 1950 to 1975 .

Pürsten had been a member of the CDU since 1952. From 1953 to 1958 he was chairman of the Junge Union in the Lübbecke district , from 1957 to 1962 JU district spokesman and from 1958 to 1962 deputy state chairman of the JU Westfalen-Lippe. From 1961 he was a member of the state board and from 1971 deputy state chairman of the CDU Westphalia-Lippe. In addition, he was chairman of the CDU Ostwestfalen-Lippe , chairman of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU Westphalia-Lippe and from 1968 a member of the presidium of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia .

From July 21, 1958 to May 28, 1980, Pürsten was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was elected from the state list. In the state parliament he was chairman from 1966 to 1970 and deputy chairman of the sports committee from 1975. From 1966 to 1980 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.

From June 10, 1979 until his death on June 10, 1980, Pürsten was a member of the European Parliament .
