Albert Richard

Albert Richard (born December 1, 1801 in Orbe , † November 11, 1881 in Carouge ) was a Swiss writer and Romanist .

life and work

Richard, autodidact (originally carpenter, then printer), taught French at the Obergymnasium in Bern from 1835 to 1847 and taught comparative literature at the Geneva Academy ( Académie de Genève , later: University of Geneva ) from 1847 to 1870 . His patriotic poetry made him known in western Switzerland. A street in Geneva is named after him.
