Albert Voit

Albert Voit, also: Vogt (* around 1562 in Königsberg ; † June 28, 1606 in Zerbst ), was a German pedagogue and literary scholar .

Life

As the son of David Voit , Albert enrolled at the University of Jena in 1571 , where he received his master's degree in 1582 and took over the professorship for poetics in 1586. In this position he moved to the University of Wittenberg in 1587 and, as dean of the philosophical faculty, also took on organizational tasks.

After the Saxon Elector Christian I of Saxony died, the new administrator turned around in church politics. Because Voit was a Philippist and did not bow to the strengthened Gnesiolutheran in Wittenberg , he had to leave the university in 1591 like Petrus Calaminus .

He therefore turned away from the Orthodox Lutheran- orientated course Saxony and went to the Philippist-friendly Anhalt , where he became rector of the school in Bernburg (Saale) in 1592 . In 1597 he moved to the Johannesschule in Zerbst and in 1600 took over a professorship at the Illustre grammar school there . He is portrayed by his contemporaries as a person with a quick temper. He was married to Anna Ulrich.
