origin

Von Rütte's parents were the pastor of Sutz David Sigmund von Rütte (* January 2, 1794; † August 11, 1877) and his wife Maria Sofie Adelheid Gatschet (* 1796; † February 13, 1858). In addition to his work, Rütte and his wife took care of the estate of his father-in-law from 1872 and thus got into linguistic research. But he was particularly interested in botany . He made important contributions to research into the canton of Bern and was an expert on alpine forage plants. At the suggestion of his professor Rütimeyer, he began to be interested in the fodder plants of the Alps. He gave the suggestion to model alpine pastures where the feed yield according to quantity and quality and its influence on the milk and its products should be examined.
