Albert von Schmidlin

Karl Albert Wilhelm Schmidlin , from 1903 by Schmidlin , (born May 11, 1844 in Bürg , Oberamt Neckarsulm; † June 14, 1910 in Ulm ) was a Württemberg Oberamtmann, city director of Stuttgart and regional president.

Life and work

Albert (also Albrecht) Schmidlin was the son of the pastor Otto Schmidlin and Karoline geb. Faber. His father died a few months after his birth, and his mother married a second time in 1854. Albert Schmidlin therefore grew up in the house of his stepfather, the politician Friedrich Notter (1801-1884), in Stuttgart. He attended the Karlsgymnasium there . From 1862 he studied camera and criminal sciences in Tübingen . During his studies he joined the Germania Tübingen fraternity in 1862 . From 1870 he was senior actuary at the Oberamt Weinsberg . He quickly rose to the position of bailiff and in 1873 took over the posts of academy secretary and lecturer in law at the Hohenheim Agricultural University . In 1879 Schmidlin was appointed clerk at the Heidenheim supervisory authority and in the same year as a supervisor. In 1888 he was appointed to the government council and took over the management of the Oberamt Ulm . In 1895 he was given the title of senior government councilor, and in 1900 he was appointed city director of Stuttgart. After only three years he moved back to Ulm, where he succeeded Hermann von Hoser as district president and took over the management of the government of the Danube district . A few weeks after turning 66, Schmidlin died completely unexpectedly.
