Albertino Bragança

Albertino Homem dos Santos Sequeira Bragança (born March 9, 1944 in São Tomé ) is a politician ( MDFM-PL ) and writer from São Tomé and Príncipe .

Life

Bragança went to Portugal in 1964 to study medicine and later electrical engineering at the University of Coimbra . In 1976 he returned to São Tomé.

In 1984 he founded Edições Gravana Nova , since 1985 he has published books. Between 1984 and 1991 he worked in the Ministry of Education.

Bragança is a member of the Movimento Democrático das Forças da Mudança-Partido Liberal (MDFM-PL) and served as Defense Minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Daniel Lima dos Santos Daio between 1991 and 1992 . In the following cabinet of Prime Minister Norberto d'Alva Costa Alegre , he took over the post of Foreign Minister from his wife Alda Bandeira in 1992 and held it until 1994.

On April 8, 2002 he was elected member of the National Assembly (Assembléia Nacional) for the MDFM-PL and was re-elected as such on May 18, 2006. There he represented the constituency of Água Grande and was a member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.
