Alberto Chakusanga

Alberto Graves Chakusanga (* 1979 ; † September 5, 2010 in Viana , Luanda ) was an Angolan radio journalist who was murdered on September 5, 2010 in his home in Viana , a suburb of the capital Luanda. Chakusanga hosted a program on Rádio Despertar , a broadcaster that was founded in 2002 as a result of the peace agreement between the ruling MPLA and the opposition UNITA . The station supports UNITA. Chakusanga is the first journalist to be murdered in Angola since 2001 and the official end of the civil war in 2002.

Alberto Chakusanga, who also taught at the Universidade Agostinho Neto in Luanda, led a program in the Umbundu language , which is spoken by the largest group in Angola, the Ovimbundu .
