Ruedi Heim

Ruedi Heim (born December 25, 1967 in Oberwil , Canton Thurgau ) is a Swiss Roman Catholic theologian and former episcopal vicar in the diocese of Basel .

Life

Ruedi Heim, the oldest of three siblings, first studied medicine for two years after graduating from Frauenfeld , then switched to studying theology and philosophy at the University of Freiburg . From 1992 to 1998 he studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , where he was ordained a priest on October 10, 1997 . He worked as a vicar and pastor, including in Menzingen (1990/92).

On July 1, 2004 Heim was appointed Episcopal Vicar in the Diocese of Basel by Bishop Kurt Koch and is ex officio representative of the Bishop of Basel. As regional manager he is responsible for the diocese region of St. Viktor , which covers the diocese cantons of Lucerne , Schaffhausen , Thurgau and Zug with the deaneries Arbon , Bischofszell , Entlebuch , Fischingen , Frauenfeld - Steckborn , Hochdorf , Lucerne-Habsburg , Lucerne- Pilatus , Lucerne-City , Schaffhausen , Sursee , Willisau and Zug belong to. In 2009 and 2014 he was confirmed in office for a five-year term each.

After his third term of office, Heim became co-dean and leading priest of the five pastoral rooms in the Bern region on March 1, 2018. Heim has been a pastor in Bern since March 2018.

Ruedi Heim is involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land ( Israel , Palestine ( Gaza Strip / West Bank ), Jordan ). In 2015 he was appointed by Cardinal Grand Master Edwin Frederick Cardinal O'Brien as Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and on November 8, 2015 in the Canons' Monastery of St. Michael Beromünster by Auxiliary Bishop Martin Gächter , Prior of the German-speaking section of the Swiss Lieutenancy Papal lay order invested.
