Alberto Fortis (born June 3, 1955 in Domodossola ) is an Italian cantautore . It was particularly successful in the early 1980s.

Career

During his school days Fortis worked musically, first as a drummer , then as a pianist . At the age of 19 he moved to Rome , where he received his first recording contract with IT from Vincenzo Micocci. But the two quickly fell out and Fortis found a new label with Polygram / Philips . His self-titled debut album from 1979 included u. a. also the song Milano e Vincenzo , in which the musician had dealt with the dispute with Micocci; It was produced by Claudio Fabi , and musicians from Premiata Forneria Marconi were also involved in the recordings. Other songs from this album were La sedia di lillà , A voi romani and Il duomo di notte .

The second album Tra demonio e santità was released in 1980. The recordings for the third album La grande grotta were made in the USA in collaboration with fusion musicians. It was released in 1981 and contained songs such as La nena del Salvador , Settembre and Marylin . Another year later, the fourth album, Fragole Infinite, followed , this time at Abbey Road Studios , which also included a duet with Rossana Casale , Neve . In collaboration with Claudio Dentes , Fortis released the fifth album El niño in 1984 ; were involved Lucio Fabbri and Demo Morselli , a song was La sedia elettrica . The last album on Polygram was West of Broadway in 1985 .

Fortis then switched to the CBS label . Produced by Carlos Alomar , David Bowie's guitarist , he presented the next album Assolutamente tuo there in 1987 . The musician then spent several years in the United States until he returned to Italy in 1990 for the next album, Carta del cielo . He also released the live album L'uovo in 1991 . In 1992 he was able to open a concert by Bob Dylan in Genoa . He then went back to the USA, where he recorded the album Dentro il giardino , which was released in 1994 and contained the song Io preferisco l'ovest , dedicated to the Indians . In 1999 he wrote the soundtrack to the film Cool Crime of Jerome Cohen-Olivar .

Fortis returned as a singer in 2001 with the album Angeldom . In 2003 the best of Universo Fortis was released , in 2005 the next studio album Fiori sullo schermo futuro . On the occasion of his participation in the reality show Music Farm , he presented another compilation in 2006 with the title In viaggio . The live album Vai protetto followed in 2008 and in 2014 another studio album was released with Dò l'anima , on which he also worked with Biagio Antonacci and Roberto Vecchioni .
