Alberto Jorge Fouilloux Ahumada (born November 22, 1940 in Santiago de Chile ; † June 23, 2018 ibid.) Was a Chilean football player. He took part in the 1962 and 1966 World Cup finals with the national team of his home country .

Career

Alberto Fouilloux began his career with the CD Universidad Católica association in Santiago . With this club he stayed until 1969. With Universidad Católica he won the Chilean championship twice in 1961 and 1966. In 1969 he moved on to CD Huachipato, a rather middle class club in Chile . After only one year in Huachipato, he went on to Unión Española , only to change clubs again after less than another year and join Lille OSC in France . There he was champion in the French second division , but left the club in 1974 after two years. The following year he played his last season as a football player at his hometown club Universidad Católica.

Alberto Fouilloux made 70 appearances in the national team of Chile. Fouilloux played for Chile for the first time in 1960. Two years later he took part in the World Cup in his own country with the Chilean national football team. Chile played a brilliant tournament there and ended up third. Previously, they had won against Italy and the Soviet Union , among others . Alberto Fouilloux was used in the first two group games against Switzerland and in the scandalous game against Italy before he was no longer considered by coach Fernando Riera. Four years later at the World Cup in England , Chile did not get beyond the preliminary round. Here Fouilloux again completed two games against Italy and North Korea ; in the third round game against the Soviet Union he was not used. Albert Fouilloux played in the Chilean national team until 1972, but could no longer qualify for another World Cup with Chile.

After the end of his playing time, Fouilloux became manager and temporarily worked as head coach of CD Huachipato and CSD Colo-Colo .
