Alberto Lysy

Alberto Lysy (born 1935 in Buenos Aires , Argentina ; died 2009 in Lausanne ) is an Argentinian violinist , conductor and violin teacher. As a student of Ljerko Spiller , he became the first Latin American prize winner at the Concours Reine Elisabeth (Queen Elisabeth Competition) in Brussels in 1955 , where he took sixth place. He became a personal student of Yehudi Menuhin . In addition to a successful career as a soloist, he founded the Camerata Bariloche in 1967 . From 1977 he directed Yehudi Menuhin's international music academy in Saanen ; from the students there he recruited the successful Camerata Lysy.
