Alberto Puschi

Alberto Puschi (born February 13, 1853 in Trieste , † November 9, 1922 there ) was an Italian archaeologist and numismatist .

Puschi studied history , geography , as well as classical and Italian philology at the University of Graz from 1873 to 1877 and was particularly interested in medieval numismatics . On his return to Trieste, he taught at the municipal grammar school and worked from 1884 to 1919 as director of the Civico Museo di Storia ed Arte (Municipal Museum of History and Art), which he reorganized and expanded through acquisitions. From 1887 to 1902 he was also editor of the “Archeografo Triestino”, the journal of the Società di Minerva , and carried out archaeological excavations in Trieste and Istria . Alberto Puschi was particularly involved in the excavations of Nesactium (Vizače).

Puschi was a member of the board of the Società Istriana di Archeologia e Storia Patria ( Istrian Society for Archeology and Local History ).
