* Locomotive NEW HOPE |
The GLÜCKAUF to NEUE HOFFNUNG were standard gauge locomotives with a tender of the Albertsbahn . The Royal Saxon State Railways later classified the locomotives in the H Va class . They were retired by 1905.
history
In 1855 the Albertsbahn acquired three tender locomotives from Hartmann in Chemnitz as initial equipment . They were the first triple-coupled locomotives from this manufacturer and a Saxon railway at all. The locomotives were named GLÜCKAUF , HARTMANN and THARANDT . A largely identical fourth locomotive named NEUE HOPE was added in 1863.
The locomotives were primarily used on the company's main line between Dresden and Tharandt in front of passenger and freight trains. To operate the numerous branch lines to the hard coal mines in Plauenschen Grund, the Albertsbahn procured some tank locomotives in 1857 , which could also use their narrow radii without any problems.
From 1859 the state also procured locomotives with similar parameters for the western and later also for the eastern state railways. In contrast to the Albertbahn locomotives, they had a slightly larger boiler and a more powerful steam engine. They were later in the class V classified.
After the nationalization of the Albertsbahn, all four locomotives came to the Saxon Eastern State Railroad in 1868, which was merged into the Royal Saxon State Railways in 1872. There they were initially classified in the genus H Vb and from 1871 in the genus H Va.
After the former THARANDT had already been retired in 1895, the three remaining locomotives formed the type Va from 1896 onwards. By 1905 the remaining locomotives were also withdrawn from the stock. None of them remained in the museum.
