As Saxon genus V six-coupled were freight train - Tender locomotive of the Royal Saxon State Railways designated.

They were the forerunners of type V V of the Royal Saxon State Railways . Between 1859 and 1887 three series with 24, 31 and 118 copies each were delivered. They had an overhanging standing kettle with a steam dome . They differ in their different controls. The types Allan , Gooch and Stephenson were used. The first series had steam sledge brakes, the second steam block brakes and the third Westinghouse air brakes.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn took over 11 machines, which were given the numbers 53 8201 - 53 8211 and all of which were taken out of service at the end of the 1920s .

From 1885 to 1889, the Serbian State Railroad received nine replicas of the Saxon V from Hartmann and the StEG locomotive factory and included them under the numbers 81 to 89 in their inventory. They were retired shortly after the end of the First World War.
