Albina Viktorovna Khomich
Albina Viktorovna Chomitsch ( Russian Альбина Викторовна Хомич ; born August 24, 1976 in Kuitun ) is a former Russian weightlifter .
Career
Albina Chomitsch reached fourth place at the European Championships in 1994 in the 76 kg class and won bronze at the World Championships in the same year . In 1995 she became European champion . Then she switched to the class up to 83 kg and became European champion again in 1996 . In 1997 she was second at the European Championships and fourth at the World Championships . At the European Championships in 1999 she won the silver medal. In 2000 she was third in the over 75 kg class at the European Championships .
In 2001 Khomitsch was able to win the title at both the European Championships and the World Championships . The following year she was third at the European Championships and second at the World Championships . In 2003 she was again European champion and runner-up at the world championships . In 2004 she was part of the roster for the Olympic Games in Athens. Shortly before the competition, however, she was tested positive in a doping control and banned for two years.
