In terms of urban development, the building is considered to be an important part of the historical development of the Elberfelder Nordstadt , a residential area from the Wilhelminian era .

The four-story house with a gable roof is located in today's Elberfeld district at the intersection of Albrechtstrasse and Friedrichstrasse . It dates from the late 19th century and is built as a corner building with access to Albrechtstrasse . The structured facade is created in historicist style , the corner is bevelled.

The building was designed as a residential and commercial building; access to the shop on the ground floor is via the sloping corner . One of the oldest (if not the oldest) ice cream parlor in Wuppertal has been located here since the 1930s . The "Spathmann ice cream parlor", which is not managed by an Italian owner, was also sung about by the dialect band Striekspöen . The ice cream parlor was founded by the brothers Willy and Arthur Spathmann.
