The Striekspöen ( High German : matches ) are a Wuppertal dialect music group. It is comparable to the Bläck Fööss for Cologne , which they also name as a model. The head of the group is Paul Decker , who was a former innkeeper on the Mount of Olives and is known as the Wuppertal Original . A minority of them sing in standard German or Regiolekt .
Band history
The musicians Paul Decker, Michael Karp-Armonier, Bert Klein, Jörg Lambert and Manfred "Manni" Nutsch or the Jongens aus'm Tal ( High German : Jungs aus dem Tal ), as the band's subtitle is, got together and brought them along Recordings from 1978 and 1982, the first album Siehste - dat is Wuppertal (High German: You see, this is Wuppertal ) in 1982. In 1991, the second album Oh Donnerkiel (High German: Oh, Donnerkeil ) was released with recordings from 1980 to 1991 .
Bert Klein, the keyboardist and the musical head of the group at the time, died in the early 1990s. With Andy Recktenwald as the new keyboard player, they continued and in 1995 they produced Bergische Christmas . In the same year the first two albums were released on CD due to the high demand. The rights to these publications are not owned by the band, but by the then producer Wuppersound Musikproduktion . In December 1998 the band separated.
Two years later, the group around Paul Decker, who wrote most of the lyrics, formed again. The album Ut'm Lewen (High German: From Life ) with recordings from September and October was released on November 17, 2003 and is dedicated to the deceased band member Bert Klein.
On March 26, 2008, the album Eenmol is keenmol (High German: Once is never ) was released. The recordings for this started in October 2007.
In November 2012 it was announced that Jo Flick is leaving the band for personal reasons and will be replaced by bassist Kurt "Atti" Reinartz. Reinhold Wiechers previously left the band for health reasons.
In the meantime Lothar Fischer, Johannes Flick and Guido Simon belonged to the cast. Today the band consists of Kurt (Atti) Reinhartz, Sigi Kepper, Ottmar (Otti) Ay, Paul Decker, Peter Holtei and Kai Acker.
