Albu (German: Alp ) was a rural community in the Estonian district of Järva with an area of 257 km². It had 1401 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2010).
The rural community was 28 km from Paide . In addition to the main town Järva-Madise , the municipality also included the villages of Ageri, Ahula, Albu, Kaalepi, Lehtmetsa, Mägede, Mõnuvere, Neitla, Orgmetsa, Peedu, Pullevere, Seidla, Soosalu, Sugalepa and Vetepere.
Albu was first mentioned in a document in 1282. Numerous mansions were built in the area in the 16th and 17th centuries. The well-preserved Albu mansion, one of the oldest in Estonia, and the 13th century St. Matthew's Church in Järva-Madise are particularly worth seeing. The birth house of the Estonian national author Anton Hansen Tammsaare is located in Vetepere and is now a museum. The area invites you to go hiking and canoeing .
