Alburnus danubicus is an extinct species of fish from the carp family . It was originally considered a subspecies of the Mairenke ( Alburnus chalcoides ) and wasendemicto Romania .

features

Alburnus danubicus reached a head-trunk length of over 20 centimeters. There were 68 to 70 scales on the sideline organ . The number of branched anal fin rays was 17 to 20½. The origin of the anal fin rays was 1½ to 2½ scales behind the base of the last dorsal fin ray.

distribution

Alburnus danubicus occurred in Lake Razim ( Lacul Razim ), in Lake Zaton ( Lacul Zaton ), which has now almost disappeared, and in Lake Sinoe ( Lacul Sinoe ) in the Danube Delta and in the Danube near Cernavodă in Romania.

status

Alburnus danubicus is only known from the holotype from 1909 and another find from 1943. Presumably the species lived in the lower reaches of the Danube until 1940. There are no museum copies.
