geography
location
Lake Razelm is located in the historical region of North Dobruja in the southwest of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve , in the Tulcea district . The lake is an old bay of the Black Sea, which was separated from the sea by alluvial deposits. Lake Razelm is fed in the north by the Sfântu-Gheorghe arm - the southernmost estuary of the Danube - by the Dranov and Dunavăț canals , so that its brackish water is greatly sweetened and flows into the Black Sea at Gura Portiței ( ⊙ ).
Places around the lake
The closest town is the small town of Babadag, about 11 kilometers (as the crow flies) from the lake . Other places are the municipality of Sarichioi (their incorporated villages Enisala and Sabangia ), the villages of Iazurile and Colina .
Adjacent and nearby lakes
Adjacent to Lake Razelm in the south are Lake Golowiza ( Lacul Golovița ) and Lake Sălcioara; in the immediate distance of the Smeika ( Lacul Smeica ) and the Sinoe Lakes ( Lacul Sinoe ). In the west of the Razelm lake is the Babadag, in the north the Calica and in the east is the Dranov lake.
A connection between the Razelm and Babadag Lakes is the Enisala Canal .
climate
The climate of the Razelm lake are dry summers, cold and dry winters; influenced by the proximity of the Black Sea. The average temperature is 11 ° C; the amount of precipitation is 400–450 mm per year.
