Alceu Valença (born July 1, 1946 in São Bento do Una in Pernambuco , Brazil ) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter .

biography

After successfully completing his law degree in 1970, he only worked in this field for a few months before devoting himself to music. His first record Quadrofônica was made together with the guitarist Geraldo Azevedo under the group name Alceu Valença e Geraldo Azevedo in 1972. He became known to a larger Brazilian audience beyond the borders of Pernambuco.

The singer / songwriter has released over twenty albums since then. His music is a mix of Brazilian folk, rock and jazz. He performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Rock in Rio II music festival - right after Prince . He worked with many internationally known Brazilian artists, including Elba Ramalho and her cousin Zé Ramalho .
