Alcide Louis-Joseph Railliet (born March 11, 1852 in La Neuville-lès-Wasigny , Département Ardennes , † December 25, 1930 in Saint-Germain-sur-Morin ) was a French veterinarian , parasitologist and professor at the École nationale vétérinaire d 'Alfort .

Life

Railliet is considered to be one of the founders of modern parasitology. In 1891 he was president of the Société zoologique de France . His name is honored by several genera ( Raillietia , Raillietina , Raillietascaris , Raillietnema , Raillietstrongylus and Raillietiella ) and many species of mites, roundworms and tapeworms .

He was admitted to the Académie nationale de médecine on December 29, 1896 .
